September Worship Schedule
(notes from Pastor Tim Smith)
Each month I will share with you the scripture lessons which will be the focus of my sermons. I share these scriptures to encourage you to read them during the week prior to our worship.
We begin the month with the challenge to do the right thing. It is not always easy to do the right thing, especially if it means breaking with your sense of right and wrong. Philemon faced that challenge.
On Rally Day we will examine two short parables from the gospel of Luke, the lost sheep and the lost coin. All people matter to God and therefore by extension matter to us as well.
The third week of the month we will again study one of Jesus‘ parables, ―The Parable of the Dishonest Manger. Many believers have struggled with the meaning of this parable. Certainly Jesus is not instructing followers to be dishonest!
The last Sunday of September our lesson is on the rich man and Lazarus, which raises the question of how we use our resources to help other. We will discover that our actions or lack of action has eternal consequences.
Sept. 5. Philemon 1-21
Sept. 12. Luke 15:1-10
Sept.19. Luke 16:1-13
Sept. 26. Luke 16:19-31
