Cookie Sale Dec 9

posted Nov 30, 2018, 4:54 PM by Lois Kerchner
For the second year, plates of cookies will be for sale on Sunday, Dec 9, the day of our unified service and Christmas Luncheon.  These cookies cost $15 and the proceeds from one plate will cover the cost of 375 meals for the people in Haiti.

Buying a cookie tray may satisfy our hunger, but how does it work to reach those in Haiti in need of food?   Since the active sponsorship base provides the cookies and other needs to operate, no funds go to overhead.  The money raised is used to buy Vitafood, a rice-based product with protein and supplements.  The Vitafood is distributed to school-based feeding programs in Haiti by Cross International.  By adding a feeding program at school, the attendance rates at schools have skyrocketed.  The children who come to school to get a meal, now get an education as well as a healthy meal.  Almost 8000 students eat the rice-based product every day and many of these schools were able to add a summer feeding program.  Meals were also provided to orphanages and feeding programs at city land fills where children forage for food.

 They're really good, too!
