Dear Friends and Members of Leola United Methodist Church,

I thank and praise God for the amazing privilege of being your pastor, and I regularly pray for each member and friend of our church.  The apostle Paul shared this same sentiment when he wrote to the church at Philippi; “I thank my God every time I mention you in my prayers.  I’m thankful for all of you every time I pray, and it’s always a prayer full of joy.”  (Phil. 1:3).  It is a joy to be your pastor!

Each year at the close of Annual Conference there is “the reading of appointments” which consists of the assignments for pastors for the coming year.  Pastors are appointed and sent by the Bishop to the churches they will serve.  I am thrilled to return to Leola UMC for another year!

When everyone in the church works together for the glory of God, there is no telling what the church is able to accomplish!  We work to fulfill the Great Commission. Jesus instructs us; “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” (Matt. 28:19)  All the time we are to live out our vision statement: “Sharing the love of Jesus Christ every day by being: Caring, Compassionate, Warm-Hearted, Open, Encouraging, and Committed”.  We hold special events throughout the year; we invite people to our church in the hope that their faith will be stirred, and they will return for worship.

We will continue to hold events, like the upcoming Vacation Bible School, as a way to reach children and their families.  Are there children in your neighborhood whom you might invite?

There are people living in our community who need the assurance of God’s amazing love and grace, who need a Savior who removes all their sin, and who need a connection to a caring church.  In our often impersonal world, the church is the one place where people actually know our names and really care for each other.  We will continue to provide opportunities for persons to share together.  Before and after worship each week, people gather in our café for a time of fellowship.

We learn and grow together as a church.  Interest remains high for our two adult Sunday school classes, our Wednesday evening Bible study, and our two classes of Disciple Bible study.  I invite you to consider attending one or all of these.

There is a lot going on at Leola UMC.   There is no telling what we can accomplish in the name of Jesus when we work together.  I look forward to having another great year with you.

See you in church!

Your Pastor,

Pastor Tim
