Ash Wednesday - Service and Prayer Vigil

posted Feb 3, 2015, 8:07 AM by Lois Kerchner

The season of Lent begins on Feb 18 when we will once again hold an Ash Wednesday worship service at 7:00 p.m.  Persons will have the opportunity to receive ashes on their foreheads at the conclusion of the service.  Ashes are made from previous year’s palm branches and serve to remind us that we “are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

Members and friends of Leola United Methodist Church are also being offered the opportunity to come to our church for prayer on Ash Wednesday at a time of their choosing. The church will be open from 6 AM until 6 PM that day as we enter the Lenten season. You will find a sign up sheet posted in the church narthex for anyone who wishes to participate. You may also call the church office (656-7600.  The prayer vigils are 30 minutes or 60 minutes.
