Everyone in Ministry

Every Christian needs to be a servant to others.  That is the message of Jesus.  Our church is promoting this very same principle with “EVERYONE IN MINISTRY”.  This message of Jesus requires us to do a ministry.  That involves effort, time, and sometimes real work.   Jesus has some harsh words for Christians that choose not to be involved.  In Mathew 25:45-46, Jesus says, “… Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.   Then they will go away to eternal punishment …”

Below is a suggested list of ways we can serve others.  Give it prayerful and thoughtful consideration.  I am at your service if you would like to discuss your chosen ministry. 


Spend regular time in prayer

Witness to your faith

Be a church hospitality person

Visit shut-ins and those who attend irregularly

Distribute flyers and/or door hangers to the community

Volunteer to do special music

Give a children’s message in worship

Be our college student liaison

Volunteer to transport someone who cannot drive

Organize or help at a church dinner/luncheon

Hand out Bible tracts

Invite people to come (with you) to church

Take someone home with you for dinner after church

Help in Junior Church

Help in the children’s nursery

Help “spruce up” our church campus

Help in our Maple Corner Café: be a coordinator, visit it weekly, make goodies to
     share

Help to change the message on our outdoor church sign

Chair or join a church committee: Chancel Choir, Church Council, Sewing, Bible Study, Praise Team,   Super Seniors, Worship Committee, Children’s 
 Ministry, Finance, Trustees, Book Club, Prayer Chain, Missions, Endowment,

     Kensill Fund for Hope, Love Fund, Lay Leadership

Start or help a banner-making group

Start, teach or attend a Bible study group

Start an evangelism committee

Start a church prayer group

Start a “MOMS’ MORNING OUT” program

Start an acolyte ministry for church services

Prison ministry(Write to inmates, donate $ to purchase  Bibles for them)

Get on our “CALL ME” list when we need short-term help

Create an up-to-date church directory

Contribute to a charity (ex: HOINA,  UMC relief to the children in the  Congo,
     Bibles for Congo ministers)

Serve as a local rep to the Homes of Hope Board

Learn to help operate the church soundboard
