Palm/Passion Sunday

Palm/Passion Sunday will be observed on Sunday, March 24.  Each person present will receive palms, reminiscent of the day Jesus entered Jerusalem amid the shouts and praises of “Hosanna!”. The choir is planning a special anthem for the morning.  As the service progresses our attention turns to the Passion of Jesus.

 Maundy Thursday

Our Maundy Thursday service with Holy Communion will be held at 7:00 p.m. on March 28.  On this day we recall the night Jesus spent with his disciples prior to his arrest, and subsequent death. They would share a meal together, what we refer to as “The Last Supper.”  That night Jesus also washed his disciples’ feet.  Before the evening ended Jesus gave a new commandment that we are to love one another just as Jesus loved his disciples

We will be holding a Foot Washing service at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall for those interested in attending.  While many churches hold Foot Washing services, this will be new for our church.   In this meaningful service persons will have the opportunity to have their feet symbolically washed and then wash the feet of the person next to them. Those who do not wish to have their feet washed are, of course, welcome to attend.  Following the Foot Washing we will move to the sanctuary for our worship service.

Good Friday

On Good Friday, March 29, we will take part in the Conestoga Valley Ministerium service, to be held at Faith Evangelical Congregational Church, 2124 Old Philadelphia Pike (Rt 340).  The service begins at 7:00 p.m.

Easter Sunrise

The Easter celebration begins with a Sunrise Service at 7:00 a.m. at the Leola Community Park. Pastor George Weaver will bring an inspiring message.

Easter Breakfast

Following the Sunrise service everyone is invited to fellowship hall for a light breakfast. This year the Sunday school class that meets in Fellowship House will be hosting the breakfast.

Easter Worship Celebrations

On Easter we will hold our two worship services at their regular times, Traditional at 9:00 a.m. Praise and Worship at 10:30 a.m. We are pleased to once again have the “Elite Brass” band play at our 9:00 a.m. Traditional worship service.

Easter Door Hangers

Packets of door hangers are available for persons to distribute on your street or neighborhood.  This is a wonderful, non-threatening way to invite your neighbors to our church for the Easter celebration.  The door hangers fit on door knobs (please do not place in mailbox).

The door hangers are available in the narthex.  There is a sheet for you to indicate which streets or neighborhood you will be distributing the door hangers so we do not have any repeats.

Last year we were very successful with our door hanging campaign inviting people to our church.  We saw guests attending our Sunrise Service as well as our two Traditional worship celebrations.  Please consider delivering door hangers in your neighborhood.
