Listening to You - Summer Church Schedule Change

We Want to Listen to You

Our Church Council is eager to hear your response to the new summer schedule of Sunday worship and educational opportunities at Leola United Methodist Church.

The Council wants to hear about your reaction to the changes in the summer schedule which were precipitated by the following questions:

  • In the long run, will our congregation be strengthened?
  • Will visitors and newcomers feel welcomed by an invigorated congregation?
  • Will communication be enhanced?
  • Will the congregation be splintered?
  • Will the time change be acceptable to our congregation?

In order to hear face to face comments from you, a Listening Task Force has been appointed by Dave Morris, Council Chair. Sally Bures is the Task Force Chair. Other members are Bob Steinruck (Lay Leader), Wayne Gunzenhauser and Ron Blanshine. Pastor Tim Smith and Dave Morris are ad hoc members.

The Task Force will conduct 8 Listening Sessions scheduled for:

                                    Sunday, July 22               2-3 and 3:30-4:30 p.m.

                                    Tuesday, July 24              7-8 p.m.

                                    Saturday, July 28             10-11 a.m.

                                    Sunday, July 29                2-3 and 3:30-4:30 p.m.

                                    Tuesday, July 31               7-8 p.m.

                                    Sunday, August 5             2-3 p.m.

There was a special mailing to church members and friends early in July so that everyone will have an opportunity to see the schedule and the questions to be discussed at the 8 Listening Sessions.

A leader and recorder from the Task Force will conduct each one-hour session.

Sign-up sheets for the sessions (to be held in Fellowship House) will be available in the narthex beginning on July 8. We look forward to your commitment to attend.

On Wednesday, August 15, the Church Council will meet to hear the results of the Task Force’s Listening Sessions. A vote will be taken to establish the Fall Schedule for Sunday’s worship services and educational activities.

        Thanks for your cooperation,

 The Listening Task Force,

Sally Bures, Ron Blanshine, Wayne Gunzenhauser, Dave Morris, Tim Smith, Bob Steinruck
