The Gift of Giving - Crop Walk

posted Dec 20, 2010, 8:22 AM by Steve F
The final numbers are in for the New Holland Crop Walk held in October!   Leola UMC raised $2,375 for the Crop Walk, and as a result, $590 will be contributed directly to the Conestoga Valley Food Bank.  Leola UMC has participated in the Crop Walk for many years with a five mile stroll through the countryside with proceeds reported through the New Holland Walk.  Look for pictures in our photo gallery.

Our own George Weaver raised over $1,200 alone.  Our church was the second largest fundraiser behind Leola's Zion Lutheran Church.

Thanks to the many Crop walk participants and donors.  Below is a note from George:

Our CROP Walk treasurer, Deb Lorah, has this year's CROP Walk results completed, and has asked that I share this (see below) with group coordinators, interested persons, churches, etc.  I want to add also my word of thanks to hers to everyone who helped contribute in any way to the success of our efforts on behalf of the poor and needy through the 2010 CROP Walk for the Hungry. It was indeed gratifying to see that for the sixth year in a row there has been a slight increase in giving over the previous year. I believe this upward trend can continue in 2011 and beyond if we keep working together enthusiastically.

Please let me know if there are other groups/churches that may be interested or could and should be taking part in this worthy cause.

George Weaver, Coordinator
New Holland CROP Walk
